About

What is Cryotherapy?

The Basics:

Whole Body Cryotherapy is a non-invasive, advanced recovery and pain management method that serves as an alternative to cold water emersion or ice packs. Originally developed as a treatment for arthritis and other degenerative conditions, it is now being used to decrease inflammation throughout the body, manage and reduce chronic pain, speed muscle recovery after workouts, treat skin conditions, boost cellular survival, and improve overall health as well as enhance mood and state of mind.

Cryotherapy is not a medical procedure, but a non-invasive alternative for individuals seeking a faster recovery and improved health. Cryotherapy is in no way meant to replace the diagnosis and care of a licensed MD for any chronic or persistent health issues.

Results/benefits of cryotherapy may vary per person.

Athletics

For years athletes all over the world have used ice baths and cold packs for recovery from strenuous training. However, just as training methods have evolved, so have the methods of recovery. Cryotherapy offers a much more advanced method of recovery that produces faster and more effective results. From elite athletes to the weekend warrior, Cryotherapy is becoming the go-to method of recovery so they can train harder and more frequently.

Health & Wellness

The subzero temperatures produced by the cryo chamber yield a number of pain relieving benefits. The sudden drop in skin temperature triggers the body’s natural “fight or flight” mode which results in the release of adrenaline and endorphins. It also numbs nerve signal transmitters, which reduces the amount of pain the brain perceives. Arthritic conditions, frozen shoulders, immobile joints, muscle injuries and other types of painful conditions all benefit from cryotherapy, and many people find they can return to normal activities sooner.

Beauty

Frequent Cryotherapy can also tighten the skin and prevent wrinkles. As body temperature drops the vessels and capillaries of the skin undergo a period of vasoconstriction (constriction of blood vessels) followed by vasodilatation (dilation of blood vessels) upon exiting the chamber. This amplified rush of blood causes unwanted toxins stored in the layers of the skin to be broken down and flushed away, and aids in the maintenance and production of collagen. Following several treatments, skin becomes smoother and more even toned with regained elasticity and an improved overall “youthful” feeling. Individuals who are experiencing cellulite have also reported a clear visual improvement as a result of the treatments.
